A party of 33 travelled to Dublin with 13 athletes and families to compete in the Irish National Championships representing Scotland. YA girls Katie Knowles and Eva Prato Luna, YB's, Lewis Khan, Daisy Fioniciello, Abby Hay, Poppy Baird, Gemma Craig, YC's Poppy Drysdale, Olivia Burns, Corrie Hay, Stephanie Craig, Amelia Craig and Jessica McCulloch made up the Scottish team.

The completion was held at the National Sports Centre in Dublin which was absolutely amazing! Registration was at 7am, with the course walk at 7.30. The Equestrian Centre was very impressive with the same surface as the London 2012 arena and surrounded by a wall. The Scottish athletes all rode brilliantly and looked great. Across the board (youth A, B and C) there were only two poles down overall. Read More

The fencing took place in the National Modern Pentathlon centre.  All the athletes looked technically brilliant and were ably assisted by our fencing coach Stan. For some of the athletes, this was their first time fencing in competition, but all looked strong and handled the pressure very well. There were some fantastic scores from many including Lewis Khan, Daisy Fioniciello, Poppy Baird and Olivia Burns.

The swimming was held in the National Aquatic centre which houses a very impressive 50m pool. The swim was in a 25m section of the pool with many PB's from the Scottish athletes.

The combined event shoot and run was a new experience for all with the use of laser. They all coped very well and impressive times were posted from many. Eva Prato Luna took up pentathlon one year ago having done a biathlon. She learnt to shoot and fence in the year and her CE was most impressive. She made all her shoots and her pacing was more perfect then many elite pentathletes.

The end result was a close call but Scotland's score of 10453 was enough to take the win against the Irish score of 1034. Lewis won the YB boys, Daisy was second, Abby Hay 3rd, Poppy B 4th and Gemma Craig 5th in the YB girls and Poppy D was 1st, Olivia Burns 2nd, Corrie Hay 5th in the YC girls.

It was a most memorable weekend, full of fun and good competition.
