Welcome to the website for Scottish Saltires Modern Pentathlon Club (SSMPC).

Scottish Saltires
MPC provides information and training relating to the five disciplines in Modern Pentathlon: Fencing, Riding, Running, Shooting and Swimming. Information is provided for each discipline, on its own and within pentathlon.

You don't have to do all five disciplines to be involved. Competitions are held using only some of the events. This means athletes can pick and choose their involvement in the sport.

Modern Pentathlon is made up of 5 different sports: swimming, fencing, riding, shooting and running. Times and scores are converted into points, which are worked out from set, published tables.

Competitions include:

Modern Biathlon (swim and run)

Modern Triathlon (shoot,swim,run)

Modern Tetrathlon (fence, shoot, swim and run)

Modern Pentathlon (ride, fence, shoot, swim and run)

Scottish Saltires MPC is affilliated to Pentathlon GB which is the governing body for Modern Pentathlon in the UK. SSMPC is also affiliated to Scottish Fencing

As a club, we encourage participation in each discipline through using local athletics, swimming, fencing shooting and riding clubs. SSMPC top up this training with events and training throughout Scotland. The club can also  provide use of fencing equipment, knock-down and electric targets for CE.
